Hands composed I began the process of rendering this beautiful iris in black and white. I wanted to showcase the finer details of the flower, uncluttered by colour. The gestural poise of the bloom also interested me and became more of the focus as the artwork progressed. I wanted to be able to sense that the flower is alive and drifting ever so slightly in the surrounding airspace, unruffled and unhurried as the gentle breeze wafts across.
